Frequently Asked Questions
Q

What type of person uses your services?

A

My clients are women, men, parents, grandparents, students, educators, doctors, lawyers, chefs, artists, authors, musicians, entrepreneurs, realtors, business owners, service providers, local celebrities, shop owners, multimillionaires, people who own multi-million dollar businesses, retirees and stay-at-home moms. The common denominator is that while they are each very, very good at what they do for a living, they are not good at getting organized or staying organized. By bringing me into their lives to help with that, they can spend their time doing what they love and what they do best.

Q

Why should I hire you as my Professional Organizer?

A

There are two main reasons people hire me as their Professional Organizer. One is for an occasional job such as de-cluttering or organizing a garage, an office or a closet. The other is when a person wants help with their clutter on an ongoing basis. In both cases, there is a great deal of trust involved in what I do. My clients invite me into their homes or workplaces and they open their kimonos to me. People hire me because they talk to me and recognize that I am patient and understanding and trusting and non-judgmental. They can hear it in my voice and see it in my eyes when they meet me. What I do with my clients can be a time-consuming, mentally exhausting process, but the rewards are great.

Q

I’m afraid to show you my cluttered home. Will you judge me and make me feel bad?

A

Fear of judgement is common among my clients. I spend as much time as necessary to assuage that fear.  Calling me and asking for help is a huge step. When I work in your setting, I am focused on your feelings and emotions and on moving you toward a place of peace and serenity with your possessions. I don’t “see” your stuff, I see a person who wants to live differently and I am honored to help you get there.

Q

I might not want to get rid of things. Will you make me throw things away?

A

When you work with me, we will come up with goals together; if one goal is to get rid of things, then I will help you do that.  I will explain that there are many options for what to do with things that you’re willing to part with such as donating and recycling — not just throwing things away.  But you will always be the final decision-maker.

Q

After working with you, what are some of the results I can expect?

A

You can expect to have more time to spend on things that are meaningful to you, rather than spending time looking for things you need and forever running late. You can expect to have more money to spend on things you want to do or buy, rather than spending it on things you have to re-buy, because you can’t find them or because you don’t even know you have them. You can expect to feel a sense of calmness, knowing that the burden of clutter and disorganization has been lifted from your shoulders.

Q

What about cost? How do you charge?

A

Making an appointment with Clutter Chick is like making an appointment with a personal trainer. If left to your own free will, you might choose something (ANYTHING) more fun to do than organize and de-clutter; by having me come you will get it done. I charge by the hour, and will estimate the number of hours or days I think a project will require. Typically, a minimum of a  half day or 4 hours is required to make good progress. When we talk to discuss your situation, I will be happy to quote you my rate.
